About Me

I lecture and teach philosophy at Cambridge University. I have authored peer-reviewed articles and an academic book. I won the prestigious (Bill) Gates Cambridge scholarship for my Master's and PhD research, and my doctoral thesis on Truth passed with no corrections.
I studied philosophy to deepen my capacity to think independently and to understand the world in fresh but grounded ways. It was the best decision I ever made. I now make academic-level philosophy (along with my unorthodox views) accessible by explaining difficult ideas simply without dumbing them down.
I have mentored hundreds of students and adult learners, and have reached hundreds of thousands through YouTube videos, some used in university philosophy courses throughout the world.
Come and learn to think deeply and differently with me!

What My Students Say

Nathan is simply an excellent tutor! Our sessions were incredibly valuable — not only did we go over everything I needed for my exams but we also explored other fascinating topics he's extremely knowledgeable about. I'm grateful to have found him.
Anexa Gryshkova
Cambridge student
Nathan is one of the best supervisors I have ever had at Cambridge. Not only is he a funny and pleasant person to work with, he is also very enthusiastic and knowledgeable in the subject and explains the material fantastically well.
Jiping Mo
Cambridge Graduate
Nathan is a bright and passionate teacher that is full of knowledge. Whatever the topic of discussion he will push you on your views, making you think in a deeper and more complex way.
Andrey Patsalides
Cambridge Graduate
My supervisions with Nathan were consistently excellent. He was willing to engage with my original ideas and spent time both clarifying the underlying content and developing my ideas such that I was more aware of both their flaws and strengths.
Lauren Somers
NYU PhD student
I had the pleasure of studying under Nathan at Cambridge. He continuously guided me through difficult subjects by pulling from a deep understanding of philosophical literature. Needless to say, I would recommend Nathan to any student!
Jesper Eriksson
Cambridge graduate
It was such a pleasure to explore ideas with Nathan I’ve been chewing over, for too long without sharing. An expert guide, Nathan was very kind, considerate and supportive, helping me on the journey to greater clarity and confidence about next steps. Highly recommend!
